Before we give you the reason why you should be using humates, you should know that this or any other product is not going to make your lawn "Like New" overnight. There are several quick fixes that may make a person think so, but these fixes are short-lived! Bountiful Earth humates will repair your lawn over time, meaning you should be applying this product at least twice each year. And keep in mind you may see some improvement in a few short weeks, but continued use is extremely important to acheive long-term effects. Before I go any further, I should let you know that I have seen other humates state on the bag that their product covers up to 5000 square ft/bag. That's not true and futhermore, not all humates are the same. Bountiful Earth's humates are an excellent humate and being in the landscape/nursery industry for over 49 years, we have seen and used many different brands of humates. This is the best humate we have ever used!
Now for the benefits:
Bountiful Earth humates helps your lawn to produce better color, a strong root system and a healther plant which helps in fighting insects, fungus and our hot summers and cold winters.
This product will aid in increasing the intake of soil nutrients. It is not a fertilzer and fertilizers are very important, but it does enhance soil life.
I have found that by using Bountiful Earth humats, I have not thatched my lawn in over 7+ years. How is this possible? This product is extremely good at breaking down lawn thatch, thereby adding nutrients back into the soil.
By using Bountiful Earth humates, you will not increase your mowing frequency!
Bountiful Earth improves the soil by increasing microorganisms in the soil. It also is known to bind sandy soils up to 400% and loosen our heavy clay soils up to 700%. This affect certainly helps by saving you from costly water bills and benefits our enviroment.
We recommend at least two applications/year, once in the spring and again in the mid to late fall. At my home, I apply an application around the first week of July along with the two other applications mentioned above. Don't be concerned about Bountiful Earth burning the lawn as this humate does not burn lawns. You can apply Bountiful Earth humate to new and existing lawns as well as houseplants, annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees.
